The
Linear Heat Detector Scheme can be supplied as an Intrinsically Safe version to
monitor for fire on fixed or floating roof petro-chemical product storage tanks.
With fixed top tanks the LHDC can be used to monitor vents, gauging points, and manholes for fire in one continuous line. On floating roof tanks the rim seal can be monitored and the Patol LHDC is easily arranged to accommodate the movement of the floating roof. The LHD is usually located at the weather rim seal. |

| For
each "zone" a length of Linear Heat Detection Cable is connected to a Fire Zone
Monitor, the latter being housed in a Safe Area. The Intrinsically Safe circuitry within the Zone Monitor imposes a limitation on cable length because of the capacitance of the Linear Heat Detector. The maximum permissible length varies with the Hazardous Gas Group. Where there are relatively long distances between the Detection Zone and the Zone Monitor low capacitance Extension Cable is available. (Further details available on request.) The Fire Zone Monitor provides repeat signals to a control area via a suitable interposing cable. At an area control panel the status of a number of zones may be displayed using either an annunciator matrix or graphic display. Applicable Data Sheets
